Classes

What type of lesson is best for a child aged 2.5 to 3?

We recommend private lessons for this age. One-on-one teaching helps young children get comfortable in the water and learn safely at their own pace.

Can a 2.5 to 3 year old join a group class?

Private lessons usually come first. Children aged 2.5–3 may join a group on a trial basis, depending on their comfort, readiness and instructor availability.

What if my child is at a different level from others in the class?

Our coaches track each swimmer's progress individually and adjust their teaching to each child's strengths and areas to work on.

How do I know which program my child should join?

Check our program pages, or book a free trial and our coach will recommend the right level. You can also call us for guidance.

Do I need to change class times when my child moves up a level?

We try to keep the same day and time. If that's not possible, we'll help you find a new time that works.

Can I request my child's favourite teacher?

We consider requests and accommodate them where we can, but we can't guarantee a specific teacher.

Can I sit on the pool deck to watch?

Parents watch from our air-conditioned viewing area. To help swimmers focus, please don't engage with your child during the lesson. Questions can go to the front desk.

Can I wear shoes inside the school?

No. Please bring indoor slippers for your child. Slippers for adults are provided at the entrance.

Enrollment & make-ups

When can I sign up for lessons?

Anytime! Our swim lessons run all year round, so you can start whenever you're ready. Book a free trial to get started.

Can children younger than 2.5 years old register?

No. We teach children from 2.5 years old and up.

When do lessons end?

Lessons are billed monthly and continue automatically until you tell us you'd like to pause. To avoid being charged, let us know before the payment date.

How do I register for a class?

Register online through your pool's parent portal, or contact us and our staff will help you choose a program and level.

What is the annual membership?

An annual membership is required for all programs and renews automatically each year while you're enrolled. If it expires, a $30 renewal fee applies.

What if my child can't make it to class?

Make-ups are for illness or family emergencies, subject to availability. Report the absence in the app at least 5 minutes before class and you'll receive a token by the end of the day, valid for one year.

How do I book a make-up lesson?

Book make-ups in the WD Swim app. Make-up schedules appear 3 days in advance, and our staff are happy to help. An active membership is needed to book.

Can I change my schedule after lessons have started?

Yes, as long as there's space in your swimmer's level at the new time.

Do you cancel lessons because of bad weather?

We normally stay open in bad weather. If classes are cancelled, we'll notify you by email and in the app.

What should we bring?

Indoor slippers, a swimsuit, towel, and your own shampoo, conditioner and body wash for the showers. Please avoid eating within an hour before class.

Payment

When are program fees charged?

Tuition is charged on the first business day of each month for the following month.

Why do I have to pay in advance?

Payment secures your swimmer's spot. Unpaid spots are released to families on the waitlist.

What if I join in the middle of the month?

Your payment is adjusted so you're only charged for the lessons remaining.

What payment methods do you accept?

Credit or debit cards saved to your account. Contact the front desk to ask about other options.

Why do I need to give 30 days' notice before withdrawing?

Our programs are popular and there's usually a waitlist of families hoping for your spot. 30 days' notice gives us time to adjust our schedule.

If I withdraw, will my day and time be available when I come back?

We can't guarantee your preferred spot, but we'll do our best to work with your schedule. We recommend staying enrolled even if you miss a few lessons, since make-ups are available for missed classes.

Do you offer refunds?

We don't offer refunds, but we're always happy to work with you on any concerns.

Other questions

Where are your pools?

We have three pools: swimming lessons in Markham at 66 Bullock Dr Unit 5, Richmond Hill swimming lessons at 563 Edward Ave Unit 12, and swimming lessons in North York at 490 York Mills Rd. Each pool page lists its classes, prices and free trial booking.

Is WD Swim the same as White Dolphin Swim?

Yes. WD Swim was formerly known as White Dolphin Swim. Same team, same pools in Markham, Richmond Hill and North York.

Why should my child swim year-round?

Year-round lessons help kids keep their skills and water safety knowledge, and keep building on them. Schedules can be adjusted as your family's needs change.

How warm is the pool?

Our saltwater pools are kept at a cozy 31°C. Our Markham and Richmond Hill pools are also shallow throughout, which helps nervous swimmers relax.

Are your coaches certified?

Yes. All instructors are certified in First Aid and CPR and complete Lifesaving Society-approved training, plus 40+ hours of formal training before teaching.
